"Warning Signs" to draw attention to the life-threatening dangers faced by refugees in the Mediterranean Sea
Founded in 2015, Sea-Watch e.V. is an international NGO dedicated to the civil rescue of refugees at sea. Sea-Watch has rescued over 45,000 people from perilous waters and needs everyone's help to save more.
Mother in Berlin partnered with the organisation to return people’s attention to the ongoing crisis in the Mediterranean Sea.
"WARNING SIGNS" is an installation of over 250 warning signs confronting onlookers with the crisis, displayed in front of the Brandenburg Gate on the 7 of December 2024.
Using simple, universally understood pictograms, this campaign highlights the deadly risks faced by those attempting the crossing and the apathy and ignorance perpetuating this tragedy.
The installation was supported by an evocative online film, produced in collaboration with 70x7 Productions, m box bewegtbild, and director Harun Güler.
A special thanks to 86 Tales, MAP Berlin, Slaughterhouse, S EC Studio and ABS Verkehrstechnik for their support, without which “Warning Signs” would not have been possible.
